These two wickedly talented performers transport you to the heart of the West End in a 45-minute, feel-good musical theatre extravaganza. From the gut-wrenching Les Mis to the dramatic Phantom of the Opera, to groovy Grease and everything in between, Jasmine Alice and Sarah Alexandra Bruce sing all your favourite musical theatre songs and more with their exceptionally powerful and beautiful voices.
This is a sellout show, and it is clear why. With witty banter, soaring harmonies and audience interaction, this performance is full of joy, delving into the many magical realms of musical theatre and having you join in too.
Jasmine and Sarah’s professionalism and ability to instantly get into character and set the atmosphere for each musical really hit home. The audience became transfixed and transported to the worlds the duo created with their impeccable talent as they took us on a journey with each song.
It was particularly impressive when they sang a medley from the hit musical Six (which Sarah informed us began at the Edinburgh Fringe), singing all six of Henry VIII’s wives between the two of them. I was delighted when they sang a duet from my personal favourite, The Phantom of the Opera, with Jasmine reaching that jaw-droppingly high E6 note pitch-perfectly, alongside Sarah’s irresistibly charming and strong vocals as the Phantom.
There is a variety of songs and genres which these two masterfully pack into their 45-minute slot, and we were left with new musical recommendations, as well as some golden nuggets of musical theatre knowledge (perfect for a musical theatre enthusiast!).
The talent keeps coming, as the final song is a treat. The two singers give us a sneak peek into Jasmine Alice’s newly written musical Nearly Weds. If you don’t manage to get a ticket to see Best of the West End Musicals, then try and see Nearly Weds.
This gifted duo truly deliver the best of the West End.
